    1. What are windows servers?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Windows servers<\/strong> are normal servers just like Linux servers<\/a><\/strong> hosted on VPS<\/strong><\/a> or Dedicated Servers<\/a><\/strong>. Their backend mechanism is the same the only difference is that it used the Windows operating system<\/strong>. They are used for multiple purposes<\/strong> such as hosting<\/a> websites<\/strong>, managing networks<\/strong> and providing access to centralized data<\/strong> and applications<\/strong>. There are multiple applications<\/strong> that can be installed<\/strong> and configured on windows servers such as Plesk<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>etc. You can set up Saas<\/strong> (Software as a Service<\/strong>) on a windows server<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It can be used to set up and manage multiple server roles such as DNS<\/strong>, DHCP<\/strong>, Server Manager<\/strong>, network manager,<\/strong> etc. It also includes features such as     Remote Desktop Services<\/a><\/mark> which allow users to access a remote desktop from anywhere around the world (where the internet is available). HyperV<\/strong><\/a> is a virtualization platform<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2. What is Firewall?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    A firewall is a system or software that controls the incoming<\/strong> and outgoing network traffic<\/strong> based on a set of security rules<\/strong><\/a>. It can be used in multiple operating systems and network interfaces<\/strong>.
    In windows, It provides a graphical user interface that helps the user to perform the functions of a firewall such as Whitelist<\/strong>\/Blacklist<\/strong> IPs, open\/close ports, and manage TCP\/UDP<\/strong> ports<\/strong> easily but in Linux<\/strong>, all of the functions of a firewall are implemented using commands through command line interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It can also be configured to work at different levels of the network stack, such as the network<\/strong>, transport<\/strong>, or application layers<\/strong>. Windows comes with a built-in firewall that can be configured and managed through the     windows defender security<\/strong><\/a> center. In Linux, it can be configured using UFW<\/strong>, IPtables<\/strong>, firewalld<\/strong>, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    3. Windows Firewall<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    A windows firewall can be configured and managed through windows defender<\/strong> (located in the control panel<\/strong> of windows) and perform functions such as allowing some programs to network<\/strong>, Blacklist domains<\/strong>, adding TCP\/UDP ports<\/strong>, etc. You can allow connections on specific ports<\/strong>. There are multiple rules configurations <\/strong>you can perform in windows firewall.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    4. Windows Server Firewall – Add TCP\/UDP Ports<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • Step #1 – Go to Start Menu<\/mark><\/strong> and type “Run<\/mark><\/strong>” in the search box<\/mark><\/strong> and open the Run app<\/mark><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      • Step #2 – Type “firewall.cpl<\/mark><\/strong>” on the input field and click on the OK Button. Then the Windows Firewall<\/mark><\/strong> window opens.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                  • Step #8 – Type port no in the field next to “specific local ports<\/mark><\/strong>” and then Click Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
